If you are interested in palmistry (hand analysis), you might wonder what some finer, smaller lines on the palm are. Some people only have a few major lines, like the life, head and heart lines. In this article, you will learn about the finer influence lines. Influence lines are fine secondary lines on the palm. The meaning can vary depending on where it is.
The Main (major) Lines
Influence line along the life line
Like a sister line, the most common influence line is alongside the life line. If the line begins at the mount of Mars, it is a Mars line. The influence line along the life line can occur at any point. For instance, if it represents a union/partnership/marriage, we can use the timeline from the life line to guess the timing.
Where else can you find influence lines?
The influence lines can arise from anywhere on the palm. They can also represent a supportive partner if along the life line or if it rises to the fate line. It is more appropriate to be called an inspiration line when it originates from the head or heart lines to touch either the fate or success lines. It is an inspiration line because the person has had an idea, thought, or feeling that inspired action.
Rising from the heart line
These influence lines are most common, rising from the heart line to the success line, showing a heartfelt decision regarding a career, hobby, or business enterprise. They are also referred to as ‘inspiration lines’. However, the name of any line doesn’t matter; the point is that energy is coming from somewhere else and giving it to another area somehow.
Lines on the Mount of Venus
The vertical lines on the Mount of Venus show mainly family influences, whether from the mother, father, or siblings. They can also represent anyone who has impacted or made a strong impression. William Benham describes someone with many influence lines on the Mount of Venus as having a healthy sexual appetite. From my study, many see themselves as spiritually aware.
Influence lines on the fate line
Influence lines on the fate line are somewhat different. They can be rising lines that touch the fate line or parallel lines alongside it. But an influence or support line is only an influence or support line if it is close to the fate line. A line that is parallel but not close to the fate line is a secondary fate line. Many people have more than one fate line.
The influence lines on the fate line can depict a variety of things, such as:
A marriage or union
A business partner
The supportive friend or partner
An epiphany or emotional decision
A period of study to support career
An idea might be what caused the influence, usually regarding career or other important life decisions. If so, the line will rise to the fate line somewhere around the head line or directly from the head line. Remember, these lines are much finer than the main lines.
Some are not influence lines but instead Travel lines.
If a branch line emanates from the line of life towards the Mount of Moon, it signifies trips or travel. However, they are not necessarily a symbol of permanent relocation. Usually, there will be a connecting line to the fate line or a new section of life line if the change is lasting. The long-distance travel line is longer than the short distance. The type of heart line that you have on your palm can help you understand the personality’s emotional aspect. The heart line is the uppermost horizontal line on the palm; it represents how people express their feelings and attitudes towards relationships. The basics of reading this line are the same as the head and life lines by looking at its length, depth, and quality. Below I have chosen a type of heart line for four various shapes. Choose one that matches closest to your type of heart line.

Curved type of heart line.
The curved heart line shows a passionate nature. These people know what they want and they don’t hesitate to go after it. If it is the most prominent line on the hand, they are ruled by their heart. See here for more.
Straight type of heart line
A straight heart line that does not reach into the padded area beneath the index finger is a short line. These people tend to suppress their feelings or they simply love their freedom. See here for more.
Forked heart line
The meaning of a fork in the heart line depends on what type of fork it is. For instance, if the lower branch of the fork touches the head line below, it shows a tendency to think emotional thoughts logically. These people might hold back their feelings. If the branch reaches the start of the life line, there may be some issues from their early family life. A fork where both ends land on the Mount of Jupiter beneath the index finger, depicts a warm and romantic nature. They have a wide range of expressions emotionally. Heart line joins head line or dips downward
The dipping heart line can denote some insecurity or caution in the realm of emotions. This insecurity can manifest as a fear of loss, jealousy or inability to show compassion or emotional vulnerability. See here for more.
Other types of Heart Line
Chained looking line
A string of small islands throughout shows a moody, changeable and hypersensitive nature. Imagine a smooth line as showing even emotions, then a messy chained line is uneven emotions. Sometimes the chained look is brought about by mineral deficiencies in the diet. It can also show depression; look at the head line for breaks, islands or one that dips all the way down to the Mount of Moon. Either way, the subject should try to calm down if they are overly nervous.
If the chained appearance is only on the part of the line, it can represent a period of indecisiveness about their feelings. Some see the chained line as a sign of a fickle flirtatious or unfaithful lover. A heavily chained line can suggest actual heart or development problems.
A very long heart line
A very long heart line that crosses the entire palm is called a Suwon crease. It is a variation of the Simian line. Sometimes there is a second line that seems to be fused to the heart line. This type of line might depict a person who is quite demanding in matters of love and expect a lot from their partner. It depicts an obsessive and intelligent nature. Money is usually a significant factor in their purpose; hence they are liable to put work before relationships. It may also be the other way around where relationships come before work matters.
Broken heart line
A broken heart line is when the line stops and starts again. It can overlap or have a clean break. The main thing about the fractured heart line is that it can manifest in difficulties expressing feelings. The subject might have issues with mood swings or emotional stress. (Check type of head line). There may be a period in their life when there is a significant change, such as a broken relationship. (Check life and fate lines). These people might often feel like they are not emotionally connected and feel phases of unattachment.
The heart line is the

their feelings and their attitudes towards relationships. The basics of reading
this line are the same as the head and life lines; that is by looking at its
length, depth, and quality.
Most heart lines are not flawless and regularly exhibit branches and markings. I imagine if there were a perfect one, it would show that the emotional experiences of the person’s life would not affect them much, possibly having an insensitive and unsympathetic nature. Where the heart line sits on the palm can add to the meaning of this line.
When the line sits high (closer to the base of the fingers) it suggests the person is open-minded, but experiences regarding the emotions can be somewhat unrealistic. This type may require constant support from his/her partner.
A heart line that sits closer to the head line, suggests an introspective personality showing caution about love but with the aid of reason and a realistic (but sometimes intolerant) approach to relationships. The emotions may lie more buried under the surface.
Marks on the line.
A star mark would suggest an emotional upset or shock. Barlines depict obstacles in unions or restlessness. A cross is also an obstacle but for a more extended period than the bar line.
Missing heart line?
The missing heart line suggests a rational and emotionally detached nature. In all matters, these people are objective, rational and almost ‘mechanical’ regarding emotions. Relationships might be difficult to sustain unless they can tap into those feelings without overthinking them. On the dominant hand, with strong Jupiter and thumb, they can be aggressive, judgemental and bad-tempered. A good heart line on the non-dominant hand helps to offset some of the cold characteristics.
Apollo Mount and Sun lines (also named the line of Apollo or success line)
The Apollo mount is a palmistry term referring to the padded area under the ring finger. The sun line is the vertical crease that often appears in this area. These features have a significant meaning in hand analysis because they help us determine the character and potential future life.
Positive aspects of the Apollo mount is when it is neither too bulky nor too flat. An average development without too many criss-cross lines shows a versatile and adaptable person. Negative aspects are overdeveloped or overly lined and can point to gambling or paying too much attention to appearances. (See more below about the features and marks).
If the mount of Apollo is displaced towards the mount of Saturn (partially under the middle finger) or between the two fingers, the creative side of the personality is expressive; often, these people have a loop of seriousness. If the mount is flat and the ring finger is thin or short, it displays introvert qualities. The Apollo mount and Apollo finger (ring finger) represent:
Self-expression.
Outward appearances.
The sense of style.
Social life.
Warmth.
Loyalty.
Happiness.
Development of the Apollo mount:
A large and full Apollo mount depicts someone more flamboyant and extroverted; they enjoy being in the centre of attention. If they are not, the expression will come out in other ways, such as through forms of art. The sense of style is not always in their clothing, cars or furniture, but in what they do. Generally, they tend to do things in excess.
When it is noticeably flat, the sense of style and social aspects of the character are introverted. They are not one to have an interest in appearances or show off their possessions. They might be a minimalist at heart.
The positive indicators are:
If the mount is not overly large, nor too flat.
The Apollo mount has rising lines on it (sun lines), shows the potential of success.
If the mount has a star, shows potential for fame.
Negative indicators are:
Many crisscrossed lines on the mount, shows that the person is overdoing things, working too hard or failing in some other way.
An overly large mount can show greed or overindulge in food or drink.
A crossbar or cross on the sun line can depict problems with the reputation.
Where is the sun line?
The sun line is a vertical line that rises from the upper areas of the Mount of Moon or anywhere on the Apollo mount. It is not present as a complete line on all hands and is more typically found only in segments. When one has the success line on the palm, it signifies the sense of achievement and satisfaction that a person feels in their life.
In legend, Apollo was the name granted to the sun god who ruled over creativity, music, and the arts; that is why the line is more prominent on those who are using their creative talent positively.
The longer this line, the more it shows talent to express creativity, personal fulfilment or merely the capacity to enjoy life. It is not a guarantee of fame and fortune, but it does bring a certain amount of luck into the individual’s life. It shows that there is potential for accomplishing a great deal. In some cases, this line rises from inside the life line; it is then referred to as an inheritance line, suggesting money or property acquired from the family’s estate.

The Letter M and Triangles on the Palm Have Meaning
But it’s not what you think!
There are many explanations about the letter M on the palm. However, many of them are not credible. The confusing thing is that most people do not understand palmistry. People, in general, see it as simply fortune-telling, which is due to the type of information available online.
The coincidental letters formed by lines have no specific significance in palmistry. If you believe the lines form the letter m on your palm, you’re observant and keen to learn about the lines. However, it is the lines that form the letter formation that are important.
What does the letter m on the palm stand for?
Hoax clickbait palmistry sites on the web will tell you that the M is a gift sign of someone who will make money in their life. However, if you know anything about real palmistry, you will know that it is a false belief. Almost everyone has an M on their palm, whether perfectly formed or not. It is simply a coincidental clashing of the main lines on the palm.
The first part can form from the fate line or the life line, depending on its placement. If it is the life line, it’s usually short, which can mean that you are not very grounded. You probably love change and travel. It can also reveal that you are restless and don’t stay in one place or job for long. People who don’t connect closely to their ancestors or family have this line. Read more about the short life line here.
The career line which starts at the head line shows that the subject has not found their ideal career or motivation until around age 35. Read more about the career line here.
The heart line in this position indicates an ordinarily emotional person who loves their freedom. They do not like overly clingy people and might also be somewhat selfish or cold in relationships. You can watch a video about the various heart lines here.
The Money Triangle
Like the letter m on the palm, the money triangles are also myths made up by fraudulent fortune-tellers. The hearsay is that the Great Triangle depicts someone who can save and retain money. The great triangle forms when a health line or fate line is present. The health line or fate line can rise from the line of life, and if long enough, forms the triangle. The money triangle is supposed to mean the same as the great triangle but through business. But, it’s simply a branch from the fate line reaching the head line. It can represent an inspiration line and aid in career choices. But if the line crosses the life line (from the ball of the thumb), which it often does, it’s simply a stress line that affects the person’s mental well-being. Stress lines can be obstacles in life.
Triangle of Earnings
Lastly, the rumour about the triangle of earnings, the thing is, I see these lines crossing all the time. Almost everyone has it if their health line touches the life line. If someone doesn’t have this triangle, it means they, too, are perfectly capable of earning.
If you have the letter m or triangles on your palm and believe you will become wealthy just because you have them, you might be a tad gullible. Success and wealth come from hard work and determination. Anyone can earn money if they try hard enough. If you understand a little about palmistry, you might know that not everyone has the same heart line type. The heart line is the upper transverse crease. Typically, the heart line begins on the side of the palm on the pinkie side. It stretches horizontally to somewhere around beneath the middle or index finger. However, this line appears very different in some people, like when it’s a broken heart line in one or more places.
A heart line in palmistry shows how we feel or shows our emotions. It also depicts how sentimental we are (or aren’t). A smooth and long curved line would suggest an effortless and unchanging way of emotional thinking. Think about this line as energy flow. If broken, the flow of feeling has changed or can change. A broken heart line can manifest in difficulties expressing feelings or someone who is subject to mood swings or emotional stress. There may be a period in their life when there is a significant change such as a broken relationship. These people might often feel like they are not emotionally connected and feel phases of unattachment.
Where is the heart line broken?
Sometimes the meaning of a broken heart line can change depending on where the break is on the line. On a few occasions, I have seen the break at the start of the line near under the pinkie. If at the start, it can represent an early upset in life, such as losing a parent at a young age. By young, I mean up to the age of 21 or so (approximate).
If the break is in the middle of the line, it can still represent a period of hurt or emotional confusion. But mainly, it shows a disconnection on the emotional side. I mean that the person might have strong feelings one minute, and the next, they feel different (or disconnected).
A broken line at the end can depict the change of feelings or the way the person handles their relationships; their relationship style. For example, they might have previously been hopeless romantic, but not anymore.
CHAINED HEART LINE

Look carefully at the other lines on the palm to see if they are all chained in appearance. If so, there may be some mental disturbance or disability issues.
The chained heart line shows a nervous disposition emotionally. It can also be one of the signs of depression; look at the head line for breaks, islands or one that dips all the way down to the Mount of Moon.
If the chained appearance is only on the part of the line, it can represent a period of indecisiveness about their feelings. Some see the chained line as a sign of a fickle flirtatious or unfaithful lover. A heavily chained line can suggest actual heart problems.
BRANCHES ON HEART LINE
Rising branches reflect idealistic and happy experiences and a keen interest in the opposite sex. Drooping branches show insecurity or disappointments, poor quality relationships or losses.
If there are drooping lines along its entire length, it can indicate a sense of failure or negative thinking with regards to relationships or the fact that they may be restless or hypersensitive, possibly even prone to depression.
FORK AT THE END REACHES HEAD LINE
A fork at the end of the heart line, with the lower section touching the head line, the individual prefers everything to run smoothly and avoid confrontations whenever possible. If a part of the heart line touches the life line, like a branch or line connecting the two, it can be due to a secure connection with the parents.
In some situations, where the family was not close, this connecting line can be a yearning for closeness. Someone with this type of line may need much emotional support. If a branch from the Heart line reaches past the life line, into the Mount of Mars, it suggests a loss of a relationship.
DIRECTION OF BRANCH INFLUENCE LINES
The thicker end of a line is its starting point. The branch lines almost always taper at the end. See example – One and two are dropping lines, three and four are rising.
MARKINGS ON THE HEART LINE
A star mark would suggest an emotional upset or shock.
Bar lines depict obstacles in unions or restlessness.
A cross is also an obstacle but for a more extended period than the bar line.

In this article, I talk about the relevance of the curved pinkie because of its significance in palmistry. Much like the thumb, it gives away clues to the persons confidence and how they communicate. However, not all pinkies are curved from birth, and some develop the shape during the growing years.
If the pinkie is curved from birth, it relates to the character type. A pinkie that has gradually formed a curve tells us about the history of the person. It’s important to know what the pinkie stands for to understand its curvature.
Even the slightest curve can make a difference. Sometimes it is easier to identify a bend in a finger if you look at the back of the hand. Often the pinkie is only slightly bent towards the ring finger. Even more commonly, it is only curved at the very tip.
The pinkie gets its qualities from the astrological house of Mercury.
To understand the curved pinkie, it’s important to know what the finger represents in palmistry. The other term for the pinkie is the Mercury finger. In astrology, Mercury has certain qualities which we also use in palmistry.
The Mercurian qualities we see from the pinkie are:
Communication and confidence.
Diplomacy.
Intellectual capacity and thought processes.
Mind and Learning ability.
The nerves.
Honesty, sarcasm, wit.
Sexuality.
Healing and health.
The Bent or Curved Pinkie Meanings
A curved pinkie, or any finger, in general, demonstrate a moderate amount of variance to the qualities that the finger represents. What that means is that if the finger is different in its weight, size or shape, the qualities follow suit.
Sometimes the finger is naturally held in a way that it leans towards or away from another finger (but is straight); it describes what is current now rather than a long-term matter. So if the pinkie juts out, away from the others, it shows someone independent, or that they are a bit eccentric. The meaning is not the same for the curved pinkie.
If the pinkie was not always bent (from birth).
If the pinkie wasn’t curved from birth and gradually took its shape over the past years, it tells of the person’s history. This history is usually not ideal. There may have been insecurity and nervousness, but mainly family problems, such as an abusive or absent father or mother. During their developing years, they may have experienced anger, arguments, yelling or generally upsetting circumstances at home. In many cases throughout my study, the person with the gradually curved pinkie had a separated family.
The characteristics that come with a curved pinkie
The pinkie (Mercury) finger tells how we communicate, so when it gently curves towards the Apollo finger, it is gaining strength from it. It indicates a higher level of shrewdness, alertness, and tact. These people often have an awareness of others and a natural ability to communicate diplomatically.
These people also make persuasive salespeople, probably due to their charm and ability to convince people to their side. This persuasiveness can sometimes mean bending the truth. However, I would not go so far as to suggest the person is a liar, but they certainly have such skill in diplomacy that if they did lie, they could do it quite well.
If someone was born with the curved pinkie, the characteristics above are more pronounced.
When the finger leans backwards, it shows a lack of interest in things such as learning and study. Curling inward is a sign of a need to hang to things, like ideas, attitudes. However, it can also be one of the signs of issues such as alcoholism.
A curved pinkie together with a short middle finger
With a short middle (Saturn) finger, decision making is not their best trait, so there may be a tendency not to take responsibility. Sometimes it signifies the pilferer, and they will take something (steal it) if an opportunity arises.
More meanings about the curved pinkie
With only a slightly curved tip on an adult, can indicate difficulties in feelings of sexual (satisfaction) or intimacy that come from past experiences. If all three phalanges appear to kink in opposite directions, like an s shape, it is recognised as mild (or pockets) of autism.
A sharp kink at the tip and a curve of this finger can imply some history of emotional abuse or trauma. For instance, when there has been a separation between the parents and the child suffered loss or sadness.
If the pinkie bends or leans away from Apollo finger, it reveals a hint of eccentricity. Another meaning is one who does not like to follow trends. They are assertive and independent.
If the finger naturally held away from Apollo, they could have some current issues or worry about emotional or sexual matters.
More meanings about the pinkie size and shape
THE LONG PINKIE
A long pinkie shows someone who can easily express themselves. These people’s ability to communicate is one of their best attributes. They often have a good vocabulary, and they are social, influential and very organised. It also means that they are naturally good with money and do well in business and politics, science, education, television, or radio broadcasting. Writing, entertaining, and music often come naturally. Any subject that requires being able to convey their knowledge or express themselves using words.
THE SHORT PINKIE MEANING IN PALMISTRY
The small pinkie suggests the opposite qualities of a long one. These people tend to be shy and find it difficult to express what they want to say. It might be something like regularly becoming tongue-tied, and then only to realise after the fact what things they could have said. However, shyness does not affect their ego, and they often have a high opinion of themselves. Getting easily embarrassed can be their downfall, so speaking eloquently in public does not come naturally to them. Usually, they avoid these types of situations altogether.
THE THICK PINKIE MEANING
A thick pinkie is rare. However, if it appears thicker compared to a regular one, or just abnormally large, it shows someone who may be rather talkative with a keen interest in business or money. These people are perfectionists and potentially very shrewd. It may also be a sign of a workaholic.
THE THIN PINKIE MEANING
The pinkie is typically slightly smaller, but if there is abnormal thinness, it suggests repression of the mental or emotional growth of the individual. Often, this manifests as learning disabilities, mental disorders, compulsive behaviour, phobias, and extreme shyness. In some cases, there is a history of feelings of guilt, anger, shame and unworthiness. With these qualities, often the thumb is also short and thin.
With a combination of a small, slim pinkie and thumb, it is a sure mark of a lack of tenacity. These traits may have come from trauma, mistreatment, or neglect at a young age. In the worst-case scenario, unwanted sexual advances or molestation.

Palmistry is an analysis of the hands, palm lines, ridges and fingerprints. Sometimes, the lines form in unusual ways, like the ring of Solomon. It is not a mark used for prediction, and these days, contemporary palmistry steers away from the predictive side of reading hands.
The art in Western culture is mainly used to depict character, career and health. Other cultures do things a little differently. Palm readers in the East tend to forecast things like accidents and disasters, and some even tell people when how long they will live. However, it is not possible to know those kinds of things through the hands and readers should avoid even attempting to look for them.
The Ring of Solomon
In palmistry, a fine curved line under the ring finger is called the ring of Solomon. The lines that encircle below the fingers are relatively rare, except the ring of Solomon. It often appears in sections as a partial ring or several faint lines. One clear deep line will have a higher significance and is more uncommon.
In my observations, I regard these lines as a ‘block’ in the flow of energy from the finger. Many people believe this ring is a gift marking, but it depends on the individual. It is meant to symbolise knowledge and wisdom. When I think of the ring of Solomon, I think of perseverance and sound reasoning. However, it can suppress the ego and prevent the flow of self influences. The lack of these self-importance traits, in a way, free up the possibility of genuine spiritual development.
The index finger (Jupiter finger) represents our self-esteem, authority, power, ego and leadership. It makes sense that the ring beneath the finger is impeding some of those qualities. Therefore, the person has a selfless and caring attitude with less focus on their own needs, which allows insight into the nature of others. They have a gift for understanding people and are very intuitive if other factors on the hand agree. (See other factors from the article about the sympathy lines.) Be careful though, the sympathy and trauma lines can often be mistaken as the Solomon ring.
More about the ring of Solomon
The individuals who have the ring of Solomon have a natural aptitude for analysing everything. The line in many examples is doubled or has the teachers square or sympathy lines beneath it. It is a mark on conscious people who handle others well, such as managers and psychologists. The downside sometimes is that the subject might not follow their dreams or fulfil their life purpose, instead, helping others to do so.
A complete one is rare but denotes precise analytical and judgment ability. The excellent observation of the heart of things, the insight into others’ minds, and the luck of getting help from others. In dangerous situations, an owner of a ring of Solomon has a way of getting out of the problematic position. Also, they tend to have good luck with the opposite sex and in finding a beautiful partner due to their unique insight.
William Benham states that the ring of Solomon is an indication of love for occult studies, and of an ability to obtain proficiency in them if other signs are present. On its own, it is not a sign of skill in the realm of the occult thoughts, but just an indication that it is a possible direction to take.
If you do not have the ring of Solomon (but wish you did), you can wear a ring on the index finger instead. But be careful, a ring with a stone will enhance the qualities of Jupiter. It will help with your ability to take charge or get lucky. 🙂
If you have a partial ring of Solomon
Sympathy lines are like an incomplete ring of Solomon. There is usually one or two lines that originate from the side of the Jupiter mount. They show a compassionate and understanding nature. If the line (or lines) reach all the way to beneath the middle finger (Saturn), they depict stress, trauma or great responsibilities at a young age.
Ring of Apollo
The ring of Apollo sits under the ring finger. It is a mark that restricts the normal flow of the positive qualities that Apollo has. It is said to indicate one who has a negative view of life and affects the creative ability or social life. The person might be at risk of their reputation or success in their endeavours. The best backup for a ring of Apollo is a good head line that doesn’t reach down to the Mount of Moon and also a well-developed Jupiter mount.
