Venus Mount on the Palm Reveals Your Power

venus mount, mounts on the palm, areas of the hand

See Zest for Life From Your Venus Mount and Other Areas of the Palm.

The Venus mount is a term in palmistry for the ball of the thumb. The padded areas on the hand are named after planets, and the ones located under the fingers have the same name as the finger, except the thumb. These mounts have meanings based on the planets and Gods. For example, Venus, the Goddess of love and Mars, the Roman God of war. If one of these areas appears flat, it can indicate that the person does not put much energy into that part of their life, like love or fighting (war).

A large, well-developed mount would suggest the opposite, where much focus directs to the area. The person will have more personal power and energy than someone with a flat mount. However, as a standard rule, if the hand has large mounts all over, the person has high energy levels with enthusiasm for life. If the palm mostly consists of flat mounts, there is less zest for life.

The mount of Venus

The Venus mount is the padded area enclosed by the line of life. It indicates the ability to express emotions and affection. Symbolising beauty, seduction, romance and love. It also shows the individual’s well-being, demonstrating how much blood flow and energy is available; a flexible, well-rounded mount is ideal, showing someone friendly, fit, sociable, outgoing, sympathetic and affectionate.

You can find music ability from a sharp angle of thumb (angle of Rhythm) and a loop of music on the skin ridge pattern on the lower section of the mount. A flat or flabby mount shows a lack of energy; there may also be physical issues causing tiredness.

A high mount of Venus in a woman’s hand does not tend to be extravagance as a Mount of the same strength would in a man’s hand. In a man’s hand, a big ball of the thumb, when soft, can give him the qualities a Venusian possesses, like attractiveness, love, sympathy and even generosity.

If it is immense and firm, there is enormous vitality and potentially high libido. A very full and hard mount of Venus, together with a thumb with a bulbous tip and an enlarged inner Mars, indicates a bad temper or aggressiveness.

(See the video lesson about this and Mars mount here.)

Mount of Moon

This area at the base of the hand, opposite the Mount of Venus, is the mount of the Moon. It rules your moods, emotions, romance, travel, and imagination and reflects the female principle (yin) – the mother, the wife, and fertility. It associates with the subconscious, sensitivity and passions.

In astrology, the moon represents your true inner self. It is a symbol of emotions. A strong moon would depict a need for giving and receiving emotional support. When the moon is developed in a man, it still signifies his sensitivity (although he might not show it). It can symbolise his mother, his wife, or the ideal woman.

  • The size of the Moon area shows imagination and creativity.
  • A full Moon mount reveals the love of travel, empathy, nurturing and sensitivity.
  • This area is also where we can see intuition and memory.

The Mount of Moon, when well developed, shows a kind, inventive, creative and imaginative personality. They are risk-takers and can succeed in business due to their originality and inspirational ideas.

Jupiter mount

lower mount of mars

The mount of Jupiter beneath the index finger tells how much a person likes to dominate, lead and organise. On a well-marked hand, a large Jupiter mount indicates success from a character’s perspective.

The Jupiter mount shows the self-confidence, pride, ego, religion and the strengths and weaknesses of the character. Jupiter rules your luck, growth and wisdom. They are the most independent of all types in their career. If the Jupiter mount shares the space partially beneath the Saturn finger, there is a hands-on ability to achieve goals.

Someone with strong Jupiter aspects is ambitious and likes to be in charge. They are fearless, determined and have an authoritative charisma, so often seen in the hands of politicians. Any position which allows them to hold a commanding position suits the Jupiterian type. However, that doesn’t mean they are strictly business because often they care deeply and have a warm heart.

Religion is another strong quality of Jupiter, as is the love of food. Their fault can be going too far and extremes in everything, so a well-formed head line is to their benefit.

DISPLACED MOUNTS

Sometimes these mounts are not found directly below and in the centre of the finger. This is called a displaced mount. When this occurs, the qualities from one mount are shared with another. The fingers, which relate to the mounts, share similar qualities. Often, a well-developed mount also displays a well-developed finger.

Apollo mount

Under the ring finger is the mount of Apollo or the Sun. When this mount is large, it indicates a desire to be recognised. Positive aspects of Apollo show a versatile, generous, happy and adaptable person. They love to see the beauty in all things. He could be an artist or surround themselves with art. They enjoy luxury and, in the practical world, good taste. Negative aspects point to gambling or paying too much attention to appearances. If the mount of Apollo is displaced towards the mount of Saturn or between the two fingers, the creative side of the personality is significant; often, these people have a loop of seriousness.

The article continues below.

Thank you for your support! Please give any small amount to help with this study.

SATURN MOUNT

The Saturn finger (middle finger) and the mount beneath it represent your boundaries; it is the balancing force of the psyche aiding rational thought. It is also the symbol of the elderly, grandparents and wise men. A large mount here can reveal pessimism or one with many responsibilities. Positive aspects show an organised and dependable person.

uranus mount

MERCURY MOUNT

The Mercury finger is the little finger. The little finger and mount represent your ability to communicate in personal relationships or business. It shows how well you connect with others as well as the amount of mental capacity and ideas. Positive aspects show quick wit and intelligence. Negative aspects point to deceitfulness or nervousness.

If Mercury’s mount is large and partially under Apollo, the communication element is used creatively, such as a writer. This displacement usually happens when the Apollo line rises to the finger.

The pinkie (Mercury) finger plays a significant role in the overall character balance; if well-developed, it lessens the struggles to succeed in all areas of life. (See an article about the pinkie meanings here).

PLUTO

The area of Pluto joins the Moon mount and likewise represents the subconscious and imagination. It connects to occultism, death, obsessions and sexual energy. It also reveals nurturing and maternal instincts. In some hands, this area appears to droop below the wrist lines.

MARS MOUNTS

The areas of Mars run through the centre of the palm; they show the strength of character, in general. The outer Mars area under the mount of Mercury and above the Moon indicates the amount of moral courage.

The area below the mount of Jupiter and the inside of the thumb is where we find our physical courage and energy. It symbolises action, boldness, and virility. The inner Mars also represents assertiveness, aggression, and violence. A developed mount would belong to an athlete or someone in the military because it shows a higher level of temper and impulsiveness. These people love danger.

NEPTUNE

Neptune represents inspiration, sentiment, dreams, healing and psychics. However, there is a connection between drug addicts and depression. It shows a highly developed sense of psychology and awareness and of perception of ideas, buildings, and inventions. With a well-developed mount, the individual often loves being near water.

URANUS

Uranus is a rarely visible mount, and its position in the palm is controversial. It has sometimes been said to lie in between the head and heart line next to the mount of Jupiter. However, it is mostly found near the area where the fate line and head line meet or on the edge of the mount of the Moon.

MARKINGS ON THE MOUNTS Markings on these mounts affect the area described, often heightening the qualities of the mount or showing an over-use of a matter. Some distinct markings can be positive signs depending on what the mount represents.

(See the article about the success line on Apollo here.)

Life Line Marks on the Palm Explained

life line marks, cross line of life line, star on life line, marks on line of life

Palms with many lines and life line marks

In palmistry, the life line (located around the ball of the thumb) helps to read potential life changes. The life line marks can help detect what type of change might occur (or has occurred). In this article, I have included several marks that might appear on the life line.

Most palms will have the lines that are classed as ‘the major’ lines; a heart line, a head line and the life line. The major lines are what people tend to look at first when examining the palms because they are usually the longest and deepest.

Using the lines for prediction

If you are trying to use the lines for prediction, gather information based on past events that have led the person to be where they are now. Past events can help us see where the future direction might go. Remember that these lines and marks can change over time. Therefore, what is evident in your hands now does not imply a fixed quality or event. As our thoughts and desires change, new lines can form, and old ones can fade.

The more marks and lines, the more active the mind or emotions.

Most of the fine lines are present because they show the individual’s nature as being sensitive, caring, nervous or possessing a very active mind. If someone tends to stress a lot, they will have more lines or marks.

Keeping in mind that any person can control their destiny, palmistry can be used to determine some consequences or guidance for our future. Accordingly, if a line shows a particular attribute, it is essential to look for other indications for confirmation, as one feature can offset another.

Life line marks and what they mean.

Almost all horizontal life line marks, such as crossbars, stars, and slashes, are classed as negative interference or obstacles. A hand with many of these lines belongs to someone with much nervous energy. They are sensitive to everything around them. They worry a lot and possibly tend to look for problems to worry about.

A rising line denotes a positive time. It can be something like an achievement of a goal or the completion of a study. Depending on other signs, it can suggest a boost in finances.

A drooping line from the life line is less favourable because it can denote a loss or a less welcoming period. (You can watch the lesson about life line marks here.)

marks on the life line, dot on life line, cross on life line, island on life line,

More about the meanings of marks

The fork in a line shows divided energy, therefore, depicts a decision of some kind, often related to changing location. A spot or dot is not so favourable, as it can denote a sudden shock, injury or trauma. The spot appears like a dent or nodule (not like a mole or freckle).

A cross mark denotes an obstacle a little more difficult than the bar line. The grille on a line is also a mark that is not too good because it shows much uncertainty, anxiety, depression or even physical restriction.

An island has a similar meaning to the grille in that it, too, shows uncertainty. However, because the lines continue, it is not as damaging.

What if someone has hardly any lines or marks?

A hand with very few lines and markings belong to those who rarely fuss. They are not significantly affected by emotions. A single broad and unblemished line describes an unobstructed life path. These people don’t allow anything or anyone to change or distract them from their life journey.

Summary

So, the markings, no matter what they look like, indicate interruptions to life. These interruptions do not have to be negative. They can and often are positive changes or life events, such as having children or getting married. (See video on marriage lines here.) Starting a new life at any age can interrupt a career, hobbies, friends, family and even the general outlook on life. These changes, in turn, can make their mark in the palm of your hand, especially on the life line.

Fate Line Starting Points in a Palm Reading for Career Questions

The fate line on the palm is usually a vertical crease in the middle of the palm. It is also referred to as a career or Saturn line and is an excellent indicator of change in the life of its bearer. In palmistry, we look to this line when considering goals, motivations and general direction in life. A curved line shows a gradual change in career or goals. A broken line that changes positions denotes major changes or uncertainty in the career or life. However, the fate line starting points vary and have distinct meanings.

A straight fate line that runs directly from the palm’s base to below the middle finger can denote an unchanging and steady direction in life.  Also, they are self-motivated, and in control of their decided path in life from an early age.

Starting at the heart line or head line

The fate line, which is not visible until it reaches the head line and upwards, suggests that there is no clear-cut direction in life until around the age of thirty-five. If the fate line starts at the heart line, the career is not settled until around fifty.

MORE FATE LINE STARTING POSITIONS

Saturn lines (Fate lines)
  1. Fate Starting at the life line is a traditional start to a career. A career originates from the individual’s background, education or personal merit. They would be competent and determined people who apply their energy and talent to succeed.
  2. Starting from inside the life line would show someone with less choice. However, were probably ruled by the family in the line of work expected of them or obligated to follow the same profession as their parents.
  3. Starting at the wrist at the centre of the hand shows the first responsibilities and a balanced personality. The fate line starting at the base of the palm is a sign of common sense and independence using own efforts, which can manifest in career choices. This type of person has a steady life, whether they have a job or not.
  4. A fate line starting at the Mount of Moon shows people (or the public) based professions of their choosing. They achieve success due to their appealing and charming qualities. This is someone who can be in the public eye. Often found in entertainers and actors.

What if you have two fate lines?

Depending on how tight they run to each other, a double fate line can refer to two similar occupations, hobbies or study alongside a career simultaneously. If the lines are close, it can depict a successful business partnership. It may even represent a husband or wife who is considered very supportive.

Whatever the case, the second line suggests a duality of some aspects and acts as a support line, giving strength to the main line. The second formation sometimes shows up as a small fork leading in two clear directions.

A broken fate line

A fractured fate line, but one that overlaps alongside the second part of the line, presents a planned change in career. If the breaks do not overlap, and there is a space, it is an unexpected change, a time when progress regarding career or goals has reached a standstill. The motivation and purpose are no longer justifiable. Look for clues on the other lines for reasons such as health or family.

A fine/faint fate line

A faint, weak line is hard to see; it doesn’t seem to be in its complete form. It can suggest a lack of direction in life, which is common in young people searching for and deciding on their career path. The line shows scattered energy and undecided objectives.

Stop Procrastinating and Get Motivated

Stop Procrastinating and Get Motivated

I used to believe I was the queen of procrastinators, ‘stop procrastinating’ I would say to myself. I have learned about procrastinating and that the things I put off are the things I least like to do!

What I do now, to stop myself from putting everything off until tomorrow, is to plan each day by writing myself a list of stuff to do.

Planning puts you in control of your time, and you will be less likely to daydream and waste time. You can even do a timetable for the whole week.

If you do not do anything, you never get anything done.

If there are some things left unfinished, put them on your timetable for the next week. Tick what you have completed, and when they are all done, your reward is a good feeling about yourself. You might find yourself amazed at how much you get done and just how much more time there is left to do the things you want to do. The key to stopping procrastinating and getting things done is deciding to give it a go.

Decide to spend just a few minutes doing the thing that you keep putting off. You feel when you get the job started. The next time you do a little more and maybe even finish the job.

Sounds very basic, doesn’t it? It can begin with just a few minutes a day. When a job is overwhelming, and you think it is going to take too long, simply decide to get a start on it. Then do it for only five minutes. Spreading your time out over a few weeks gets it done eventually.

Are you putting things off because it is not what you want to do?

I procrastinated about completing something I had put off for many years. Then I finally realised that it was something that I did not want to do. I changed my plan, looked at other options and found the answer to my problem. You too can learn from your situation and decide whether you are enjoying what you are doing or whether is it so dull that you never get around to it.

Sometimes it is good for us to do things we do not like doing. However, when it comes to completing projects that lead us to success, we need to look at the circumstances and see if there is another option. It is no use putting in wasted effort if you are not enthusiastic or excited about what you are doing.

Are you procrastinating because you do not have the right things around to make the job easier?

Do you not sort the bills and paperwork because you do not have a desk or a designated area? Alternatively, do you not fold away the washing because the closets and drawers are full?

Do you not write because you do not have a computer?

Make do with what you have.

I received my first computer (many years ago), as a gift from a friend. It was very basic, with not enough RAM for an internet connection, in fact, a little 250MB in total! However, for writing purposes, it worked well as a word processor. So you can imagine I procrastinated a fair amount because of its lack of connection. Eventually, I bought a new computer and that meant that there were no excuses left for me to procrastinate.

The point of that little story is that whatever it is that you need to make the job easier, do it. Find a desk, a filing cabinet, more space, whatever it takes to organise and remove your trouble areas to help you get on with it and stop procrastinating.

Are the things you put off just too dreary? Stop procrastinating tips:

Some tips to reduce the boredom of some jobs:

  • Try playing music or listening to the radio while you work.
  • If at home, watch television while you work and use commercial breaks for the tasks that are most difficult.
  • Call a friend on the phone while you work on jobs such as the dishes or folding washing.
  • See if you can get a family member to help do a job and set yourself a time limit. My children are willing to help if I say something like, ‘Let’s see how quickly we can do a ten-second tidy.’ We all start tidying and counting while we do it or use a stopwatch to time ourselves, and they have more fun doing it if I help.
  • Do the boring jobs first? Get them out of the way quickly so that you have more time to do the things you love.
  • Is it an important job? Does it have to be done, or can you leave it and put up with it?

Some things can be put off until another time. It does not matter if everything is not perfect, after all, it is only you that is going to complain, isn’t it?

Do you find yourself doing meaningless tasks around the house or at work and using them as an excuse for, not doing something else?

Are you looking for the dust to clean? If you want to stop procrastinating, maybe you are taking on too much unnecessary work. Does your home need to be impeccable before you allow yourself to do what you want to? Are you happily helping everyone else finish their tasks and going out of your way, just to be nice?

Do you stop and ask yourself first, ‘Do I want to do this?’ If the answer is no, then say no, you need to finish a major task of your own first. It is not easy to say no when you want everyone to think you are a superwoman/man. However, you know that when you do, you have taken control of your life, and that feels good!

Do you procrastinate because you are afraid to make the ‘wrong’ decision?

When deciding, and you feel stuck, you might put it off altogether because you fear making the ‘wrong’ decision. Don’t worry too much about it when this happens to you because most choices are reversible. However, if you keep in your mind that you have the option to change it later, you get over procrastinating.

Reading Palms and How It Can Help You

Reading Palms (Your own palm) and how it can help you.

Palmistry undertaken as an art, to interpret the character, should be done so with an open mind and variable analysis. It is the art of analysing hands. It has been practised for centuries to examine your character, personality, motivations, desires, and how you see the world and live your life. Reading palms can guide you to a deeper understanding of yourself and your potential future.

If you are interested in reading palms for personal reasons or if you are a professional coach, a therapist, counsellor, or healer, hand analysis allows you to add additional means to your range of work. You can give your clients more insight and clarity for finding their way and attaining their maximum capacity to achieve their goals.

When reading palms, It is possible to see if a person is open-minded and easygoing.

if they have the drive, and leadership qualities required for their job; can they be trusted? My personal approach to palm readings uses the knowledge-based information gathered through the hand features as well as the lines on the palms.

It is important to remember that one sign alone cannot confirm an event or outcome. In fact, in most cases, not even several indicators confirm a future issue. The combination of elaborate explanations for the many markings on the palms depends on an individual’s life. For example, stress lines on a business person are not the same meaning as those found in an artist. Hence, we need to see other features on the hand to determine personality type and how they might handle stress in their situations.

Through a peek at someone’s hands, you can get a general idea about their constitution. For instance, if their hands are soft, refined or dainty, the same applies to their character. With these qualities, they prefer the use of their intellect or creativity before physical work. On the other hand, rough, coarse and rugged hands might lack sensitivity, but they show strength. A person who is happiest working with their hands.

Reading palms and fingers

The fingers are a tremendous part of reading palms. They can show how we express ourselves and how we have developed in the past. We all have distinctive looks and the same goes for our psychological makeup. Because we are unique, reading hands can become very involved and complicated. It is this personal disposition that reflects in our hands from birth.

People inherit many physical features and character traits from their parents, but we are all unique. The basic shape of the hand is especially an important part of reading the palms because it helps us determine the first and most fundamental character of the person.

The character from the shape of the hand.

One of the simplest ways to do this is by using the old astrological elements of fire, water, earth and air to compare four typical hand shapes. (You can read more about the astrological elements here.) It is likely however that your hand does not match one of these, but using your judgment, you should be able to come up with one that is close or a mix of another.

In some cases, the person’s hand shape corresponds to their real sun sign element. It obviously helps to know a little about the astrological elements. Once you have determined some character traits from the four categories, the lines can help to suggest possible outcomes and help support other findings.

What you can get from reading palms:

  • Discover how a mere handshake can tell you just whom you are dealing with in your life!
  • Learn how the hand as a whole depicts intuitiveness, sensitivity, practicality or thinking types.
  • The eleven areas of the palm illustrate what you focus on (love, work, dreams, instincts, nature, music etc).
  • Find out how easy it is to see negative traits from the setting of the fingers.
  • The particular length of the fingers depicts the most important character traits that they cannot hide!
  • Recognise a charmer who just might be a compulsive liar!
  • Know when you have come across a stubborn and controlling bully.
  • Is your potential lover going to match your libido?
  • Poor health warnings at a quick glimpse of the fingernails.
  • Career options that suit your hand shape.

Business Success Signs in Hand Analysis

business success signs

Recognise Business Success from the hands.

Business success signs, in general, depend on the individuals’ ability to focus, learn, lead and take action. Many hand aspects can show these abilities. Regarding reading hands, it’s essential to understand that some indicators can contradict others. However, the following aspects shown in this article help recognise the characteristics of a business-minded person.

The Thumb

The thumb has great significance in reading hands; you can glance at a person’s hand and quickly get a general idea of their energy, drive, and basic temperament. So the thumb is a crucial part of character awareness, especially when meeting someone for the first time. In most business or personal situations, people shake hands to introduce themselves. What a perfect opportunity to glance at the thumb! (Download the thumb reading ebook here).

As with most features, it is finding balance in proportion to itself, and its appearance on the hand is ideal—nothing too crude and nothing too small. A small thumb belongs to the daydreamer; a very low set thumb belongs to a worker’s hands; an extended thumb indicates strength of character. The thumb is an excellent aspect in attaining clues confirming other characteristics found on the hands.

Business Success Signs from the Thumb

A thumb, which opens to a wide angle, is mainly found on the low-set thumb and suggests a more open and giving nature. An angle that is 90 degrees is a hands-on worker. But if it is greater than 90 degrees, it denotes an overly flexible or reckless nature. A good angle is not too wide and not too narrow. The thumb tip should not be overly short but balanced compared to the second phalange. The whorl fingerprint is a good sign.

thumb reading, small thumb, large thumb, palmistry thumb

What to look for to see a businesslike personality:

  1. Looking at the fingers, especially the two middle fingers, they should have knotty joints, giving the appearance of swelling. The knotty fingers are a sign of shrewdness in financial matters (found in many successful business people).
  2. The phalanges between the fleshy parts of the finger joints should be even, revealing a well-balanced mind and personality.
  3. The phalanges on the thumb should also be even. If the tip of the thumb is noticeably shorter than the lower section, it shows a lack of willpower.
  4. The tips of the fingers are fairly thick and either round or squarish. The pointy-looking tips do not suit a businesslike mind.
  5. The ring finger should be a little longer than the index finger.
  6. The mount of Jupiter is well-developed.
  7. The hand shows general good health and firm mounts.
  8. The fingers are straight.
  9. There should be at least one ‘whorl’ fingerprint.
  10. The palm is square than narrow.

Business Success Signs and The Pinkie:

A long pinkie finger shows someone who can easily express themselves. These people can communicate well. One of their best attributes is social, influential, and very organised, with a good vocabulary and raw eloquence. It also means they are naturally good with money and do well in business, politics, science, education, and television or radio broadcasting. Writing, entertaining, and music often come naturally. Any subject requires being able to convey their knowledge or express themselves using words.

Thick Pinkie

A thick pinkie is rare. However, if it appears thicker than the rest of the fingers or abnormally large, it shows someone who may be rather talkative with a keen interest in business or money. These people are perfectionists and potentially very shrewd. It may also be a sign of a workaholic.

The lines that show business success signs

One central line is the rising line of Apollo (success line). A vertical line that begins low on the palm should clearly and distinctly rise into the mount of Apollo beneath the ring finger. It may also rise from the head line or the heart line. This line beneath the ring finger represents the arts, including fame and fortune. For this success line to show achievement, there must be a clear-cut and continuous line with a sharp definition. Two of these lines are very encouraging for a wealthy person. The hands of a business person often show the fate line (line of Saturn) and are almost always present. In many cases, there are two fate lines.

The head line should be clear and relatively free of flaws and breaks. A poorly formed head line might show a person who struggles to think straight. If there is a fork at the end of the line, it shows versatility. (Writer’s fork). The heart line, if curved, shows someone passionate about what they do and they put their emotion into their work. A straight heart line shows someone less likely to put their feelings into account when it comes to working.

Hand Analysis is Complete Palmistry

PALMISTRY IS HAND ANALYSIS

The use of the term hand analysis is often preferred over the word palmistry to try to steer away from the reputation of fortune tellers (which, by the way, still exists in most eastern worlds). I use the word palmistry because it is an art that completely studies the hands and palm lines.

Today I would like to talk a little about how palm readers, over the years, have struggled to get respect from the population in general. I was particularly concerned when I realised that many people making it even more challenging are other so-called ‘new age’ hand-reading experts.

There is also a new wave of hand analysts mocking the word “palmistry” as something that should no longer exist and is just fortune-telling. However, palmistry is hand analysis because it is the art of studying the hand and all its features, such as the lines.

I am going to make this point by taking some excerpts from timeworn palmistry books that explicitly use the art for hand analysis, not fortune telling, whether it concerns the quality of the lines on the palms or the shape of the hand and fingers.

Many old books describe how to tell character from the hands and how to use that information to better your life.

Here is one from the original (pre-1960s) “Complete Guide to Palmistry – The Standard Work”:

The human hand has been described as the creator’s masterpiece of a mechanism. It’s a wonderful adaptation to the requirements of life. Few realise that the hand is a direct servant of the brain. Its markings reveal the workings of the brain and the general characteristics and physical ailments. It cannot be denied that there is much opposition to the practice of Palmistry based on ignorance and bigotry.

In this examination, it is necessary to note both hands. The first point to be noted is the texture and consistency of the skin; this will be best ascertained by feeling the back of the hand and noting its softness or otherwise.

The appearance of the hand as a whole will show whether it is evenly balanced or is heavier or lighter in some parts than in others.

guide to palmistry

Below is another excerpt about hand analysis from the famous “Cheiro”.

He uses the term palmistry in studying the character from the hands.

“Palmistry for all” by Cheiro – PUBLISHED IN 1916

There is no country in the world where the “study of character” is more indulged in than In the USA. During my many visits there, I could not help remarking how even the “hardest headed” businessmen used any form of this study they could get hold of to help them in their business dealings with other men and endeavouring to ascertain the character of their clerks and employees.

In looking over the records of my career, I find that in the course of my visits to America. I gave private lessons to the heads of two hundred and seventy business establishments in New York. One hundred thirty-five in Boston, and three hundred and forty-two in Chicago.

Study of the character

All these men were large employers of labour. What they principally wanted was to have some help beyond that of their judgment. In dealing with those, they came in contact within the regular course of their business careers. In no other country did I find the same interest in studying character from a practical standpoint.

This is why I am writing a special Preface for this Edition. Believing as I do, my American readers will appreciate the added information. I may be able to give regarding the obtaining by glancing at a hand. A quick grasp of the leading characteristics of the persons they are thrown into contact with. Or, for whatever reason, they choose to use this study.
