Curved Heart Line v Straight Heart Line
The heart line in palmistry is one of the main lines to see how a person is regarding emotions. It is usually the uppermost horizontal line on the palm. A curved heart line is a gently curving line ending under the middle and index finger space. Sometimes it ends directly under the index finger.
The heart line represents how a person expresses their feelings and their attitudes towards relationships. The basics of reading this line are the same as the head and life lines; that is by looking at its length, depth, and quality. The deepness of the line displays the depth of feeling. So, a curved heart line indicates the demonstration of emotion while a straight line shows more control and less expression.
The heart line is one of the major lines
The major lines are what people tend to look at first when examining the palms because they are usually the longest and deepest. These lines can also subtly change over time; therefore, what is evident in your hands now, does not imply a fixed quality or event.
When using the lines for prediction, the information is gathered from the past trials that have led the person to be where they are now. Any lines or markings that represent the future are just an assumption, whether negative or positive. It is common these days for the heart line to be the deepest line on the hand. This clear line depicts a passionate person who lives through their heart rather than their mind (logic).
What does the curved heart line mean?
The curved heart line shows warmth and balance; the person can relate to others as well as tend to their needs. They are passionate but fussy or idealistic about whom they choose as their partner, especially if the line reaches the Mount of Jupiter.
If this line happens to be the most prominent line on the hand, the person is likely to be ruled by their heart. A very curved heart line shows a passionate person, especially if it reaches between the middle (Saturn) finger and index (Jupiter) finger.
The average heart line which is broad and relatively free of flaws, reveals a well-adjusted person in their emotions, and they would have profound and intense passions. They are emotionally open-minded and caring. However, as always in palmistry, we need to compare it against all the other lines. For example, if the head line is weak (broken, short, etc), it gives the heart line more power. This power is not always positive, it depends on how the individual uses it. One good line can be put out of balance if there are too many negative signs.
More about the heart line and curved heart line
An ideal heart line would be gently curved and end somewhere between the index and middle finger. If it also has a fork at the end, the person would have a naturally optimistic view of relationships; they have a balance between what’s ideal and what’s practical. A fork at the end that reaches the mount of Jupiter shows a warm and romantic nature. These people have a wide range of expression, they are open-minded and generally level-headed. If the line is short with a fork, the emotional life may be complicated, or cold. If the lower section of the fork reaches the head line, the individual prefers all situations to run smoothly to avoid confrontations whenever possible.
Most heart lines are not flawless and regularly exhibit branches and markings. I imagine if there were a perfect one, it would show that the emotional experiences of the person’s life would not affect them much, possibly having an insensitive and unsympathetic nature.
Where the heart line sits on the palm can add to the meaning of this line.
When the line sits high (closer to the base of the fingers) it suggests the person is open-minded, but experiences regarding the emotions can be somewhat unrealistic. This type may require constant support from his/her partner.
A heart line that sits closer to the head line, suggests an introspective personality showing caution about love but with the aid of reason and a realistic (but sometimes intolerant) approach to relationships. The emotions may lie more buried under the surface.
Other types of heart line – The floating heart line
The floating heart line has no beginning or endpoint. It usually sits a little higher than the standard heart line. If directly under the fingers, it is more likely a girdle of Venus. Some regard this line as the girdle of Venus because it gives nearly the same qualities. The floating heart line or girdle of Venus is somewhat standard for those who have a Simian line. It suggests that the individual might be a dreamer, a spiritual seeker, extremely emotional or highly strung; it adds empathy and sensitivity.
Missing heart line?
In some rare cases, the heart line is not present on the palm. It may be that you have a Simian line or a Simian variation. A simian is a single transverse crease. You can read more about the Simian line here.
Why do the lines change?
The reason the lines change is that our thoughts and desires change. New lines can form, and old ones can fade. The lines that are most likely to change quickly are the minor lines. Keeping in mind that any person can take control of their destiny, palmistry can be used to determine some consequences or guidance for our future. Accordingly, if a line shows an attribute, it is essential to look for other indications for confirmation; as one feature can offset another.
