Short Pinkie and Short Finger Meanings

Short Pinkie and the Meaning of a Short Finger in Palmistry

Do you have a short pinkie? Sometimes it’s challenging to decipher whether a finger is longer or shorter than usual. A small finger can be thin or short, sometimes both. A short pinkie is when it does not reach the top crease of the ring finger. Be aware though, that the pinkie might be low set, in which case you might have to measure it.

If you are interested in palmistry, you might think that it’s all about the lines on the palm. Modern hand readers know that the most crucial part of a good palm reading is knowing about the character of the person. Without this information, the reading can be deficient and unsuitable for the subject. The shape of the hand and the length of the fingers are the most noticeable first impressions. You can tell just by a quick glance if someone has something unusual like short fingers.

The best way to begin is by first deciding if all the fingers are of average length.

How to tell if the fingers are of average length? Firstly, look at the back of the hand. Notice whether the palm is long and rectangular or square. If the fingers appear similar length overall, then they are average. Typical length fingers should have the middle finger the longest and the ring and index almost the same.

short pinkie

When a finger is of average length, it characteristically shows a balanced individual who would possess a normal level of confidence, ambition, ego and responsibility. Note that most males have a ring finger slightly longer than the index.

I have found that the middle finger is the best guide to begin judging the index and ring fingers, and they should reach a little over halfway along the top phalange of the middle finger. Once you have established if the fingers are long or short, then you can decide whether the pinkie is shorter than usual.

But before jumping to conclusions about the associations of a small finger, another feature to look for is the thickness because often, a short finger will be compensated for by being thicker than average. If this is the case, then the person is likely to make up for any deficiency. I have seen this especially when the Index finger is short (which would typically indicate some lack of confidence). But if it is also thick, then the trust issues are of the past. A mount underneath the finger can also help offset the shortness or thinness of a finger by its prominence or markings such as vertical lines.

Short Pinkie Meanings

A shorter or thinner than the typical finger can depict under development in the qualities that are represented by it. A large and long thumb offsets the meaning and balances out any negative aspect. Some examples:

The Short Pinkie – communication difficulties or shyness. They can quickly become tongue-tied and so may struggle with speaking in front of an audience. Some can lack a sex drive or display immaturity emotionally. The short pinkie, in general, depicts a gentle person who tends to be quiet and prefers calm environments.

Physically, they may look young for their age, or some other aspect of their build is underdeveloped. If only the middle phalange is short, it is a sign of shyness. The shyness does not affect their ego, however, and they often have a high opinion of themselves.

If it is exceptionally short, it can suggest early mental handicap or slow learning ability. The extremely short Mercury finger also denotes a severe lack of confidence in their capacity to express themselves regarding sexual matters. For this reason, in relationships, they need a caring and understanding partner.

short finger meanings in palmistry

Individual short finger meanings

The ring finger – A short ring finger can show untapped creativity. An antisocial or introverted nature. It also suggests that the person puts more focus on their outer worlds, such as their ambitions and practical matters. They are reliable and self-motivated folk who rarely act irresponsibly. Their success comes from drive and ambition, rather than pure talent, but they may be shy in front of an audience, especially if the pinkie is also short.

The middle finger – A short middle finger shows a lack of seriousness or responsibility. This belongs to a risk-taker; there is boundless energy for life and always something to do, but they can quickly become disorganised within their home or work. They usually approach life focusing on the now, and not so much the future. In a career, they need excitement because it is problematic for them to concentrate on tedious activities. As far as boundaries, they may not always follow the rules or care about the law; especially if all the fingers have wide gaps at the base. Even more so if with a Simian line.

Short index finger

The development of the index finger can vary. If it is severely short, it reveals a history of peer group rejection. A slightly short index classifies as a deficient father syndrome. The personality can be affected either way and generally, the short index finger shows a small ego. The person with this little index can lack leadership, unless with a large thumb. You can tell if it’s short when it does not reach halfway along the top phalange of the middle finger.

Sometimes a low-set index can appear short, but the meaning is very similar because of the under-developed region. These people can be very caring about others needs but might struggle with looking after their own or finding their purpose in life. It may come from a lack of confidence in their ability or just an absence of direction in the early years. They can be easily persuaded due to their kindness or failure to make their decisions.

Short thumb

A small or short thumb is classed as such if it fails to reach halfway up the base phalange of the index finger. The little thumb denotes some weakness of character with a passive nature; a daydreamer rather than a doer. However, they are mostly ruled by their heart and so are not the least bit arrogant or aggressive. The natural qualities of drive, determination, and action that come with a regular length thumb are undersupplied. Instead, it shows someone timid, quiet, submissive and at times, lethargic. Easily influenced by others, they prefer that someone else guide them as to what to do. Alternatively, somebody else doing it for them; habitually they are used to being dependent on others.

Health Signs from Fingernail Colour

health signs from fingernail, white fingernails, white nails meaning, is white nail bad?

HEALTH SIGNS FROM  FINGERNAIL COLOUR

Palmistry is not just looking at the lines on the palm, it is about analysing the whole hand, including the fingernails. When looking for health signs from fingernail colour, we apply the same principles as for the hands, which is to find something unusual. We also check the quality of the nail.

A delicate textured hand should have matching smooth looking nails. If the nails are coarse on a smooth hand, the healthy balance is out of proportion. The coarse nail is usually short dry and dense, more commonly seen on a big hand with rough skin.

A nail usually takes six months to grow from the root to tip so some markings can be timed based on where it is on the nail. As an example, a horizontal ridge halfway along the nail would suggest a change around three months ago.

A typical healthy nail is pliable; it has a smooth texture; average thickness and the colour of the nail is typically light pink. The moons should be milky white, and usually only visible on the thumb. (Text continues below)

WORD OF WARNING – Please don’t make the mistake of diagnosing health signs from fingernail colour, palms or lines alone, because many of these indicators are frequently changing according to the individuals.

BLUE/PURPLE NAILS

Bluish tinge within the nail bed can be due to circulatory or respiratory problems. Sometimes this is temporary due to cold weather or cold hands. It is normal for a woman to have bluish nails during the early teens and again at menopause when there are changes in the body hormones.

WHITE NAILS

A white-looking nail bed can suggest iron deficiency, low vitality or liver dysfunction. A pale, white or greyish tinge under the nails can indicate selfish leanings or lack of warmth. Depending on the quality of the nail, if it appears to be lifting off the quick, clouded, brittle and dry, it could indicate a fungal disease.

When the nail itself is white and clouded on the top section and yellow at its base, it can signify the onset of possible kidney disease.

YELLOW /BROWN

Yellow colour in the nail beds or a brownish discolouration, splotches or stains in the skin directly under the nail, can indicate jaundice, liver or gallbladder conditions. These marks can also occur when there is a high level of bilirubin in the blood due to the body producing too much or not get rid of it fast enough. Other conditions can also cause yellowing, such as fungal infection or regular contact with heavy-duty chemicals on the nails.

RED NAILS

Red fingernails mainly show a predisposition to poor circulation. Very red nails can be due to high blood pressure, bad temper or cardiovascular disease.

WHITE SPOTS OR LINES

White flecks or spots can show a vulnerable nervous system or weak constitution. They are usually the first sign of delicate nerves and can appear during times of stress or when the body lacks a mineral such as calcium, zinc or magnesium. White lines across the nail can indicate acute fever or coronary disease.

BLACK/RED LINES

Several long, thin black specks or lines underneath the nail, is associated with a bacterial infection of the heart valves. If the line or speck is very close to the tip, it may be just a splinter or injury. Red lines or specks can be due to long-term high blood pressure, or if at the tip, also injury.

Health from the fingernail quality

CONCAVE NAILS

The concave nail is opposite of the humped nail and appears dished and sunken in, like a spoon. It can be a sign of a lack of energy, a nervous disorder or physical stress. There may be nutritional deficiencies or exposure to a lot of water or chemicals which soften the nail. The concave nail can be a warning of a more severe oncoming illness.

humped nail, concave fingernail, ridges on fingernails

HUMPED/CURVED NAILS

The humped nail, commonly associated with weak lungs, respiratory disorders such as emphysema, bronchitis or pneumonia. Long-term smokers often have nails that grow over the tip of the finger, appearing curved or humped (suggesting inadequate oxygenation). A severely humped nail, where the tip of the finger also appears swollen, indicates a more severe condition. A claw-like nail is frequent in the hands of older people who may have a problematic or dominant attitude. If there are no respiratory or age-related issues, these people are tenacious, but with a pompous attitude.

RIDGES ON THE FINGERNAILS

Horizontal ridges (grooves) on all the nails can suggest a change or interruptions in the individual’s health possibly due to severe dieting, long-term stress, acute infections, injury or trauma. Vertical grooves can occur with old age, but on a young person, they can show a delicate constitution, nervousness, stress, hormonal changes or poor nutrition. If all the nails have ridges, it could also be due to rheumatoid arthritis or overuse of nail polish removers.

BRITTLE OR WEAK NAILS

The cause of flaky nails can be a mineral imbalance, poor diet or an underactive thyroid gland. Using bare hands for work such as gardening and overuse of chemicals on the nails can also cause brittle and weak nails. Long-term stress shows as dry skin on the palms, which would also affect the nail.

Fate Line Starting Points in Career Questions

Fate Line Starting Points in a Palm Reading for Career Questions

The fate line on the palm is usually a vertical crease in the middle of the palm. It is also referred to as a career or Saturn line and is an excellent indicator of change in the life of its bearer. In palmistry, we look to this line when considering goals, motivations and general direction in life. A curved line shows a gradual change in career or goals. A broken line that changes positions denotes major changes or uncertainty in the career or life. However, the fate line starting points vary and have distinct meanings.

A straight fate line that runs directly from the palm’s base to below the middle finger can denote an unchanging and steady direction in life.  Also, they are self-motivated, and in control of their decided path in life from an early age.

Starting at the heart line or head line

The fate line, which is not visible until it reaches the head line and upwards, suggests that there is no clear-cut direction in life until around the age of thirty-five. If the fate line starts at the heart line, the career is not settled until around fifty.

MORE FATE LINE STARTING POSITIONS

Saturn lines (Fate lines)
  1. Fate Starting at the life line is a traditional start to a career. A career originates from the individual’s background, education or personal merit. They would be competent and determined people who apply their energy and talent to succeed.
  2. Starting from inside the life line would show someone with less choice. However, were probably ruled by the family in the line of work expected of them or obligated to follow the same profession as their parents.
  3. Starting at the wrist at the centre of the hand shows the first responsibilities and a balanced personality. The fate line starting at the base of the palm is a sign of common sense and independence using own efforts, which can manifest in career choices. This type of person has a steady life, whether they have a job or not.
  4. A fate line starting at the Mount of Moon shows people (or the public) based professions of their choosing. They achieve success due to their appealing and charming qualities. This is someone who can be in the public eye. Often found in entertainers and actors.

What if you have two fate lines?

Depending on how tight they run to each other, a double fate line can refer to two similar occupations, hobbies or study alongside a career simultaneously. If the lines are close, it can depict a successful business partnership. It may even represent a husband or wife who is considered very supportive.

Whatever the case, the second line suggests a duality of some aspects and acts as a support line, giving strength to the main line. The second formation sometimes shows up as a small fork leading in two clear directions.

A broken fate line

A fractured fate line, but one that overlaps alongside the second part of the line, presents a planned change in career. If the breaks do not overlap, and there is a space, it is an unexpected change, a time when progress regarding career or goals has reached a standstill. The motivation and purpose are no longer justifiable. Look for clues on the other lines for reasons such as health or family.

A fine/faint fate line

A faint, weak line is hard to see; it doesn’t seem to be in its complete form. It can suggest a lack of direction in life, which is common in young people searching for and deciding on their career path. The line shows scattered energy and undecided objectives.
