A broken life line is when a section of the line is missing before the line continues. An overlapping break shows a ‘planned change’. A clean break may be showing that change is necessary; whether due to relocation, illness, accident or other experience, it serves as a cautionary to take more care during that time. The reason why a break in a line depicts change is that the proper flow of the energy is interrupted, leaving a space which may necessitate a decision for transformation or a breather in life.
If the line continues actively after the break, it shows the usual flow of things is resumed. If not, look for a bridge line (often very faint) that connects to the fate line. In many cases, the fate line acts as a life line to support a change in a new direction.
Also, see if there are sister lines on one or both sides of the broken life line; these lines give support to an otherwise uncertain period. A line on the inside of the life line would show family support and on the outside from a non-related source. If the break happens to overlap another part of the line, it often indicates a planned change.
Importance of the line of life
The first line a person typically looks at on the palm is the line of life. It is also frequently the most prominent line on the palm as it arcs around the mount of Venus, reaching somewhere near the wrist. The line of life is not an indicator of longevity. What it does reveal, however, is the quality of your life.
To judge how a person manages their world; we observe the condition of the line. Ideally, it is well-defined without deviations or markings. In the present day, however, that is not likely to occur due to busy and demanding lives. The line of life also indicates the subjects’ physical strength and health during various periods of life.
If you have not yet settled happily into your career, you may be wondering what kind of career choices would actually suit you? The career in palmistry, the basic features of the hand and fingers can give clues about the temperament and natural talents.
People inherit many physical features and character traits from their parents, and we are all unique. The basic shape of the hand is an important part of reading the palms. It is what helps us to determine the most fundamental character of the person.
The career in Palmistry from the shape of your hand.
The fingers are a tremendous part of palmistry because they can show how we express ourselves and how we have developed in the past. We all have distinctive looks and the same goes for our psychological makeup, and that is why reading hands can become very involved and complicated. It is this personal disposition that reflects in our hands from birth.
If you have ever wondered why some of your fingers curve in their shape or your hands are otherwise dissimilar to others, Destiny Palmistry gives you some insight into these features.
One of the simplest ways to do this is by using the old astrological elements of fire, water, earth and air to compare four typical hand shapes. (Listed below) What shape is your hand?
It is likely that your hand does not match one of these, but using your judgment, you can come up with one that is close or a mix of another. In some cases, the person’s hand shape corresponds to their real sun sign element. It helps to know a little about the astrological elements. Once you have determined some character traits from the four categories, the lines can help to suggest possible outcomes to support other findings.
Here is a short list to check your hand. NOTE- The fingers are classed as long if they appear to be longer than the length of the palm.
Click on the heading links for more description of the hand shape.
Do you have a bent middle finger? Ideally, the middle finger (also named the Saturn finger) is straight, showing self-control and responsibility. When it is bent, however, the boundaries and beliefs may be somewhat out of the ordinary. The bearer does not often have strict rules or routine in their life, and decision-making is complicated.
If the bent middle finger bends towards the ring finger, the serious qualities of (Saturn) favour towards the creative aspects. These people need time to be alone. It can also suggest a history uncertainty, depression or pressure from family duties that has clashed with their search for self-expression or achievement.
When all the fingers bend inwards (naturally, not due to disease), it adds shrewdness to the character. They may have a distortion of reality in their life, which may lead to corruption or unlawfulness, especially if the Saturn finger is short.
The middle finger rarely bends towards the thumb, but if it has a lean in that direction, away from the ring finger, it shows an extroverted and very independent character. These people are free thinkers; not concerned a great deal about the future.
If the index finger also leans towards the thumb, ambition, self-esteem, confidence and ego are active, especially if coupled with a large or long thumb. They are independent and not bound by the views of others. These people strive to succeed in life. They are regularly talkative and energetic, especially if combined with an extended Mercury finger.
I once read the hands of a man who had a very badly bent middle finger, it was also scarred from an obvious injury. I asked him what happened to his finger and he told me the story of what happened.
Even though the bend did not occur through gradual development, I still take it into account. I asked him if he had an unpleasant or difficult time during or after that incident because after all Saturn is all about responsibility, the law, solitude and seriousness. He admitted he did, in fact, he had spent several years in jail for unintentionally killing a person in a car accident due to him being under the influence of alcohol. I wasn’t surprised, and it is a good example. Of course, that is not going to be the same explanation for everyone.
The same can be assumed for any other broken or damaged fingers. Think about what the finger stands for and use that connotation to for your conclusion. A Mercury break, for instance, could be a sign of difficulties in intimate relations, dishonesty, commerce or learning obstacles.
The line of life (A crease on the palm around the ball of thumb) – Almost all horizontal marks on the line of life, such as crossbars, stars, and slashes, is classed as a negative interference or obstacles of some kind. A hand that has many of these lines belong to someone who has much nervous energy. They are sensitive to everything around them, they worry a lot and possibly tend to look for problems. You must also be careful when analysing these marks, sometimes they are formed by lines crossing each other. In that case, it will not be a ‘mark’ on the line.
A hand with very few lines and markings belong to those who rarely fuss. They are not significantly affected by emotions. A broad and unblemished line describes an unobstructed life path for someone who rarely diverts from or allows anything or anyone to change them or to distract their journey.
Are all marks on the line negative?
So, the marks on the line, no matter what they look like, indicate interruptions to the life and significant events. A star is the most serious. However, these interruptions do not have to be negative. They can and often are positive changes or life events, such as having children or getting married. Starting a new kind of life at any age can interrupt career, hobbies, friends, family and even the general outlook on life. These changes, in turn, can make its mark in the palm of your hand, especially on the life line.
A break in the line of life is generally a more worrisome sign because it leaves a ‘blank’ spot in that anything can happen and the time is uncertain. I have a video on how to time events on the life line. See it from the link below.

Not all little finger meanings are not all equal in palmistry. For instance, I have a slightly low set pinkie. (In palmistry terms ‘Mercury finger’) I have noticed that those who do not have a low set pinkie, seem to be doing better in life, not only in their sex life but career-wise. But is this true? Other factors need to be included in any assumptions. In general, to continue my studies on the subject, I would like to hear your story if you have this feature in your hands?
Here is what I think so far about the low set little finger:
When the little finger is sitting very low on the edge of the palm, it suggests under-development of the traits that the mount beneath it represent, for instance, business and confidence, especially in communication and language, including sex life language. I’m not referring to someone who is currently doing well as a mature age person, I’m referring to their life as they were growing up, the teenage and early adult years. Maybe even in their later years, if the mark is strong.
The little finger, sex life and creativity.
The pinkie can show a talent for creativity and communication. However, if it is low set or small, they may tend to daydream about it more than create it. The creativity might only be expressed privately, home business, or such as home decorating or crafts, especially if with pointed fingertips.
If the low set pinkie is also small, emotional needs in relationships may be an issue. Sex life may not be the main concern. What I mean by that is that the person might not be so interested, or that they simply not attracting the right types.
The very small pinkie can also infer a history of deprivation or inadequacy at a young age; whether due to hardship, setbacks or an absent or overly nurturing parent (often the case). Whatever the cause, the biggest obstacle that this feature presents that of difficulty connecting, verbalising and naivety in emotional or sexual matters. If with a weak thumb, they may also inadvertently seek a dominant or unsuitable marriage partner. (I’d love to hear your thoughts.)
What if you have a long little finger? It shows your talent for speech, communication and business. You are able to express yourself well whatever it is you do. Your sex life is probably not an issue if you have a long pinkie. (Depending on other factors obviously).
How to fix the sex life problem?
Just being aware that you might have an issue ‘naturally’, and it’s not your fault can help you to resolve your problem. Another way to enhance the pinkie qualities is by wearing a ring on that finger to remind you to communicate more, to be more honest and to not be afraid of showing your sexuality.
Life line types and what they mean.
The life line types on the palm vary. Most lines, however, arc around the thumb ball and end at the wrist. The length and quality of this line tell certain character traits and constitution. It is a line which in palmistry is the most interesting one on the palm. People like to think that the line refers to ones’ actual life. In a way, it does. The line should, ideally, be long, deeply etched and unmarked. However, it is unlikely that many people in this modern day and age have a line like that.
The life line types:
A long and deeply etched line which reaches the wrist (if unmarked) show vitality, routine, stability and motivation.
A short line, if also weak or thin in its appearance reveals a lack of stability or energy levels. Often it is a mark of unstable early family life or a change in the middle of life.
A life line that appears faint depicts a delicate or sensitive constitution, common on those who are not physically active
A line which curves outward towards the Mount of Moon describes someone who loves to travel or is very outgoing.
A line which runs closer to the thumb is someone who lacks interest in physical activities and may be cold or selfish. They prefer to stay close to home.
When a life line appears to have a break in it, look for sister lines on one or both sides of the line, these lines give support to an otherwise uncertain period.
A line on the inside of the life line would show family support and on the outside from a non-related source. If the break happens to overlap another part of the life line, it often indicates a planned change.
The best way to guide your life is through your own knowledge. When did you last look at your hands? When was the last time you had a question about your future? Did you think to yourself that you feel some uncertainty about what your next decision in life is?
Nobody wants to feel like that, and neither do I.
You could pay hundreds of dollars for a comprehensive palm reading that might set you up for life, It may help you to realize your life purpose. However, it is not always helpful in the long term when you lose your motivation or enthusiasm. If you knew how to read your own palms, you could potentially keep track of what is happening, all the time. Also, to fully understand how free palm reading works, you need to start with the basics. The basics are what gives you a clear vision of who you truly are. A life purpose reading can help, but, your true self-feeling can be blocked by your upbringing, your family, your friends and sometimes (like me) even your life partner.
The lines can and do change over time.
I have never seen a hand and thought that what I see is set in stone. (With the exception of fingerprints, because they don’t change). So imagine if you could learn to read your own hands? Moreover, learn for free! Free palm reading lessons are actually available right now.
The reason I have the free lessons is that hundreds (even thousands) of people come to me for free advice, all the time. Basically, I do not have the time to answer everyone and I don’t get paid for that, ever. I realised that if I could teach people the basic skills and knowledge of palm reading, they wouldn’t have to consult a palm reader. Don’t worry, I’m still available for a palm reading and very happy to do so, (if you pay me). However, if you are not able to pay me for my service, please subscribe to my channel and learn how to read your own hands. I promise to be here always.
The triangle meaning on the palms can vary and therefore needs to be carefully analysed if you are to understand it fully. Often people see lines crossing all over the palm, and they appear to form shapes.
However, these lines do not have any meaning other than the lines happen to pass each other. I get some individuals ask me what does the M letter, or E letter or diamond shape mean? It is possible that there is a meaning there. However, it is mostly merely a coincidence of other lines passing through or branching from another.
Branches from other lines obviously have connotations, and most lines have some kind of meaning. However, if there is a shape formed on its own, it’s different.
The Triangle Meaning
A triangle found on its own, not formed by other lines, generally is said to give ‘karmic’ support if it is located on a line or a mount. It provides a boost of power or talent to a specific area, a welcome sign.
If on the life line, the triangle can point to a time of financial gain, the sudden windfall or an event which highlights the use of intelligence.
Sitting on the top of the head line, it strengthens the mindset according to the vicinity of a specific mount.
On the heart line, it can show a time when the intellect is used to resolve an emotional issue or a favourable time for relationships.

The Jupiter mount and finger (Index finger) represent the self-confidence, pride, ego, religion and the strengths and weaknesses of the character. If the Jupiter mount shares the space partially beneath the Saturn finger, there is hands-on ability to achieve goals.
Growth and wisdom.
Wealth and success.
Glory and honours.
How you deal with others.
Your power and pride.
Your self-esteem and ego.
Because Jupiter represents how we treat others and ourselves, when this mount is average, it shows a right amount of confidence, leadership skills, and ambition.
If well developed, it depicts a friendly and social person with high self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and purpose.
Overly developed Jupiter mount can indicate a very ambitious and bossy nature. They can be overbearing and arrogant, often with an enormous appetite for food, especially if the bottom phalange of the index (Jupiter) finger is also thick.
A flat mount shows a lack of confidence or self-worth. They want others to take the lead, especially if the index (Jupiter) finger is short.
The above features together with an Earth hand show positive connotations.
The earth hand or square hand (obviously not exactly square) is one which has a square looking palm and short fingers. This shape is also referred to as the practical hand. The fingers are usually stiff and thick with rounded tips. There are typically only a few thick lines, and rarely any minor lines. The earth shaped hand can be plump, or it can be slim.
The heavy hand shows less patience than a slim one, but it depicts pride. A large, thick and full earth hand belongs to the farmer, the fisherman and truck driver type. The compact, earth kind is more energetic and practical, belonging to the more business-minded folk. It is common to also find this shape hand on someone creative.
The fate line also knows as the Saturn line or Career line, is usually present on the palm. It is located vertically in the centre of the palm. Before I let you know more about the meaning of the fate line missing, it is important to understand some of the roles of the main lines.
MAJOR AND MINOR LINES
Most palms have ‘the major’ lines; a heart line, a line of head and the line of life. (See photo below). I have chosen only these three to be classified as major lines, although some hand readers also like to refer to the Saturn (fate) and Apollo (success) lines as major ones. Some missing lines on certain palms might cause confusion. Not every hand has these lines exactly.
The reason I do not use the Saturn and Apollo lines as major lines is that they are not always in everyone’s hands. Also, with the fact that they are most likely to change along with the person’s circumstances. The major lines are what people tend to look at first when examining the palms because they are usually the longest and deepest.
These lines can also subtly change over time; therefore, what is evident in your hands now, does not imply a fixed quality or event. If you are missing lines on the palm, they may just be going through change.
When using the lines for prediction, the information gathered in the past events that have led the person to be where they are now. Any lines or markings that represent the future is just an assumption, whether negative or positive. The reason is that our thoughts and desires change, new lines can form and old ones can fade.
The lines that are most likely to change quickly are the minor lines. They can even disappear altogether. Keeping in mind that any person can take control of their destiny, palmistry can be used to determine some consequences or guidance for our future. Accordingly, if a line shows a particular attribute, it is important to look for other indications for confirmation; as one feature can offset another.
As an example, a line that shows success for a person may indicate this as a likely conclusion. However, if other signs are against it, such as the lack of willpower, the attainment of that success may be difficult; (but not impossible). Finding adverse signs should not be seen as negative, however, but instead an incentive for making positive changes for better future outcomes.
Fate Line Missing (Saturn line)
The Saturn line, (fate line) which travels from the base of the palm towards the middle finger, is not usually present in young children and not even in some adults.
Unestablished career goals often lead to a missing fate line. However, what if you are an adult with a job? This line, in general, indicates the success of a career, whether they are settled or varying and changeable. The fate line missing altogether does not often happen in adults, but when it is, it does not mean anything negative.
In the course of my career, I have met some people, mostly businesspeople, in whose hands the line was absent. They all were happy to say that they were ‘self-made’ men and that no fate would decide the course of their career.
Creating your journey in life.
So when you think about it, the missing lines are just an indicator of a free spirit, they do what they want, create their path and are not bound by any regiment. 🙂
I created Destiny Palmistry the book for those of you who are interested in palmistry as a beginner and for those who believe there is some truth in respect to the psychoanalysis, as well as predictive aspects of reading hands. I have for this purpose included many traditional meanings as well as modern views based on my experience.
Many find it difficult to be convinced without systematic evidence and wonder why we believe in the predictive palmistry. My answer to that is, the studies of this subject, explored for centuries as a form of divination, has continued to develop in modern times. Furthermore, there is clear support for scientific research that the hands have a connection to the activity of the brain, reflecting the character and wellbeing of the person.
